COMPLEX SYSTEM-WIDE CHANGES

These are some of the complex system change questions that I have examined on behalf of nonprofit clients:

1. •Should we continue as a national corporation or establish a federation structure?
   

2. •Should we create a fundraising foundation as a separate entity?
   

3. •Should we isolate the risks associated with residential services from the other operations in a separate corporation?
   

4. •How did this family of seven boards evolve? What decision-making powers are associated with each board?
   

5. •Should we consolidate separate but related operating entities?
   

6. •Which functions of the volunteer development system should be centralized or decentralized?
   

7. •Should we merge with or acquire another agency? What issues need to be negotiated? What steps are required for implementation including communication plans, operational integration and board composition?
